THE INCAS AND CUSCO (Tahuantinsuyo)

THE INCAS' EMPIRE!

CUSCO the great capital of the Incas was the very center of the empire. It is said the Incas reigned for 100 years and the Spaniards came to overcome them. All ancient civilizations had a time of splendor a Golden Age. When the Spaniards came the Incas were already in the Iron Age!

The Spaniards could not overcome them if the Incas were in their golden Age or in their Silver Age. Nevertheless, the time came to pay for all those mistakes that the Incas made! Those who conquer other nations will be conquering by other nation!

That is the price of conquering and the modern nations had forgotten that lesson! Sooner or later whoever makes war will have war! It is said we all make our destiny and it is true for sure! So, you better behave if you do not want to have problems!

The great empire of the Incas was possible thanks to Pachacuti, Tupac Inca 1, Tupac Inca 2, Huayna Capac, Huascar and Atahualpa.

Huascar and Atahualpa were brothers, but ambition to power does not care about blood ties! They were fighting each other to get the whole empire, but the Spaniards had other plans. They convinced Atahualpa to become Christian to help him. He saw that as a great opportunity; but the foreigners deceived him and they get prepared to kill him after their victory. Atahualpa promised to fill of gold a room. The Spaniards accepted, but Francisco Pizarro (The leader of the conquistadores) ordered his death anyway.

It is said that people from all the empire were bringing gold to save their emperor’s life. They hide their gold in mountains, rivers and lakes when they heard the news about the death of Atahualpa. Now, it is said, that gold is around the empire and some people are looking for it!

The Inca spirit was not overcome! Traditions, myths and more had survived as well as Quechua and Aymara. No, nobody can overcome the great spirit of the Incas. Time will pass but their wisdom will remain!

THE GLORY OF THE INCAS IS NOT GONE!
IT IS WITHIN THE NICE PEOPLE WHO FOLLOW THE ANCIENT TRADITIONS,
WITHIN THOSE WHO KEEP THEIR MYTHS AND TRADITIONS!

 CUSCO: THE GREAT TAHUANTINSUYO!

Cusco (known as Cuzco too) is a magical place full of beautiful sites like Sacsayhuamán, Ollantaytambo and some other ones. I was there for a week and it was not enough. The environment is really amazing and it is hard to leave from there.

The great Cuzco had a glorious past and we have, in that magnificent city, just a sample of the Incas’ empire. It was built forming a jaguar shape. We can see, now days, many houses built on top of original Incas construction.

It is amazing to see those rocks joint so perfect that not even a razor can get between two rocks! Sometimes you think they cut those rocks and they gave them the shape they wanted.  Where did they get rocks that match in so perfect way? They look like puzzles that were formed in such an accurate way!

The llamas, the alpacas and the people with their classical clothing give that especial touch that you cannot find in another place of the whole planet!

Cuzco was called TAHUANTISUYO by the Incas. It was divided in four parts. This is something we can find in different cultures as the Aztecs and other civilizations.

The great Cuzco is a place you must visit, not just because of the Inca’s legacy, but for the place itself. Many tourists visit this beautiful and simple city.

The first thing they will offer you, when you get into a hotel, is COCA’s tea. Well, it is not a drug because it is not processed. They give you that so you do not get “SOROCHE.” What is that? They call “SOROCHE” to the feeling you might have for being so high; its altitude, according to WIKIPEDIA, is around 3,400 m (11,200 ft). Soroche is feeling dizzy and week! Coca’s tea is to avoid that feeling.

Cuzco, as I said before, had the shape of a jaguar. Now it lost that shape because more and more houses were built. There are a lot of vegetarian restaurants. People are very friendly. A place you cannot miss is the Cathedral. Why? Because of it is beautiful. The altar is made of gold. Yes! Incas’ gold. Another beautiful place is the temple of the sun. A catholic church was built on top; the same was done in Mexico with the great temple dedicated to Huitzilopochtli! It s said, its walls had gold and a lot of precious stones. Now you can see only naked walls.

You can take a train from Cuzco to Machu Picchu; but there are other sites closer to Cuzco as Sacsayhuamán, Ollantaytambo and a few more.

I really would love to go back again and I hope I can do it because it is really exciting to be there and breathe the air of the Incas!
